In the private bedrooms, each room includes a full-size bed, a full-size mattress, a desk, a desk chair, a dresser, a closet, and a private bathroom. Some, but not all, rooms include a wall-mounted TV.
SouthPaw Village includes a clubhouse with regular operating hours and features a package room, a group common room, a kitchen, and a resort-style pool.
USA students can apply to live on-campus by logging in to their MyUSAHousing portal. Students with an existing on-campus room assignment for Fall 2026 can sign up for the SouthPaw Village waiting list via their MyUSAHousing portal. Students not yet assigned to an on-campus room for Fall 2026 can rank their room/building preferences, which will include SouthPaw Village.
Starting Fall 2026, SouthPaw Village residents must purchase a SouthPaw Village residential parking permit. SouthPaw Village parking permit holders are able to park in white parking spaces around the SouthPaw Village complex. Residents should NOT park in fire lanes, designated USA-staff parking spaces, or in designated ADA parking spaces without the appropriate permit. Click here for additional parking information. Visitors are not permitted to park in residential parking lots during certain hours of the day - click here to review those restrictions and more information.
Yes, the JagTran stops at the SouthPaw Village Clubhouse. Click here to view the live tracker. USA Housing will work with the JagTran system to enhance and add additional buses and routes as needed.
The only pets permitted in University housing are harmless varieties of fish, other than as indicated Guide to Residential Student Living and Community Standards. No other pets are allowed on either a permanent or visitation basis (i.e., no cats, dogs, hamsters, reptiles, birds, rodents, amphibians, etc.).
Students who need the assistance of service or emotional support animals must register with the university’s Disabilities Office prior to the animal arriving on campus. Students with service animals or assistance (emotional support) animals will be required to follow the Center of Education Accessibility & Disability (CEADR) guidelines. Students will be held responsible for any damage caused by such animals.
Approved animals living on-campus for CEADR-approved related needs must follow all “owner responsibilities” outlined in the Service and Assistance Animal Policy. Failure to comply with the outlined “owner responsibilities” will result in a $100.00 fine and potential removal from on-campus housing for repeated occurrences.
As noted in your housing contract, the University of South Alabama does not assume any financial responsibility for the personal property of students. All students are strongly encouraged to obtain renters' insurance from a provider of their choosing, prior to move-in. The University of South Alabama has partnered with GradGuard, which offers a unique renter’s insurance program that has protected over 500,000 students nationwide.
No, there are no elevators at SouthPaw Village.

Yes. All current residents and those who have signed a future lease with Central House on Stadium, if they choose to cancel their lease and complete a USA Housing application, will be prioritized for room assignments over new applicants.
Those who choose to keep their Central House on Stadium lease and NOT complete a USA Housing application may be moved to a different building or apartment at USA Housing's discretion.
USA Housing is working through resident feedback now and determining how many residents intend to take advantage of the early move-out option. We anticipate in early June 2026 to begin contacting current Central House on Stadium residents about relocation if it applies to them.
USA Housing is only offering no penalty lease cancellations between May 1 and July 31, 2026. If you choose to keep your existing lease agreement, you may be held responsible for all monthly rental charges for the entire duration of the lease agreement, even if you do not physically occupy the room.
USA Housing strongly encourages you to cancel your lease agreement and complete the USA Housing application, as graduation is an approved option for no penalty cancellation.
USA Housing will make every effort to honor preferred roommate matches. However, individuals who choose to keep their Central House on Stadium lease agreement will NOT be permitted to be assigned to apartments with those students who have completed a USA Housing contract due to utility billing requirements for those who are on lease agreements.
USA Housing will be prioritizing those who complete a USA Housing application over those who choose to keep their Central House on Stadium lease. To ensure the best probability of being with your preferred roommate, we encourage all to cancel their Central House on Stadium lease and complete a USA Housing application.
Individuals must be pre-registered for the Fall 2026 semester or have a scheduled advising appointment by June 15, 2026, or their lease may be subject to termination as all individuals living at Central House on Stadium must be actively-enrolled USA students.
For those graduating and pursuing a graduate-level degree, please contact USA Housing (housing@southalabama.edu) to confirm that you will be preregistered.
USA Housing has assumed all Central House on Stadium leases as of May 2026, and the
community is now classified as University housing.
All actively enrolled students currently living in the community who chose to keep
their lease agreements are now subject to the residential meal plan requirement, meaning all students living in University housing are required to purchase a meal
plan.
The apartments at SouthPaw Village are eligible for the Full-Kitchen Eligibility Exception, meaning that sophomore-level and above residents whose room includes a full kitchen (meaning it has a full-sized fridge and oven with stovetop) are eligible to select from any residential meal plan regardless of their classification.
